Crocs Mary Jane – the Jewel in the Crocs Crown
The Crocs Mary Jane is perhaps the flag ship of the Crocs line of shoes. Let’s face it, ladies love shoes, and most would think nothing of hobbling about in those that pinch their feet, all in the name of fashion! But what if a company came along that offered both comfort and style in its line of shoes? We have known for years that Crocs shoes are comfortable and made from a closed-cell foam resin called Croslite, that makes them very soft, super-light and durable. We may even have heard that Croslite happens to be anti-microbial, which means no smelly feet, shock-absorbent, which limits fatigue after hours on your feet, and most of all, Crocs are easy to clean with soap and water. But some of us might have yearned in the past for a more stream-lined model that married style and utility. Enter the Crocs Mary Jane!
The Crocs Mary Jane, designed for women, has a sporty and chic look and comes with all of the ergonomic qualities that Crocs has become famous for. In particular, its Croslite footbeds provide arched support and are embedded with tiny circulation nubs that gently massage your feet as you walk. The Mary Janes also carry a band across the vamp, right at the arch of your foot and one around your heel that enhance the feeling of snugness. Like all Crocs, the Crocs Mary Jane is skid-resistant, even on water and oil, and its soles won’t mark your floors.
For those who want an even more flamboyant look, your Mary Janes are designed with ventilation holes that allow you to add a personal touch by applying Jibbitz charms. You may choose from the Hibiscus, Translucent Flower or Candy Flower charms, which go for less than $3.00. The vents are also useful in that they allow you to easily drain away water and sand, which, added to the shoe’s buoyancy, makes the Mary Jane clog an excellent shoe for the beach.
With their wide range of sizes (4-12) you are sure to find one that fits. The classic Mary Janes allow you a choice from four colors: navy, black, chocolate and the ever popular cotton candy. They typically sell for less than $30.00, but you should keep your eyes and ears open for the frequent blowout sales where you may sometimes get them at half-price!
Crocs Mary Jane – Let Us Examine Your Choices
The Crocs Mary Jane comes in a variety of styles.
The Carlie Mary Jane is available in black, oyster/gold, espresso/bronze, sea foam/aqua and cotton candy/fuchsia and fits sizes 4-11. Carlie Mary Janes are even more stylish than the classic clog with transparent upper material and wedge heels that cushion your feet. You may also purchase special translucent charms designed to match your Carlies. The Carlie Mary Jane sells online for only $39.99.
Shayna Mary Jane offers you a choice from 8 exciting colors, including the dressy black, the flashy Aegean Blue and the popular cotton candy and fuchsia. Like the Carlies, they fit sizes 4-11. The distinguishing feature of the Shayna clog is the secure slingback heel strap that offers extra stability and support. You may purchase the Shayna for under $30.00.
The Wrapped Mary Jane flat is a fresh update. It is characterized by suede nubuck and overlaid stitching that together add a touch of sophistication. The stylish Wrapped Mary Jane is available in a range of colors from black/black, mushroom/espresso, stucco/khaki, espresso/espresso to the elegant bijou blue/black. There is also a strap across the vamp for added support. Sizes 4-11 are accommodated and the flats typically cost $60.00, or less, online.
Crocs Mary Jane – Closing Thoughts
There is typically no breaking-in period with Crocs Mary Janes. Not only are they extremely comfortable, but they are very durable, and have been known to last for as long as 5 years, and even more. The Wrapped Mary Janes are as suited for rainy days as they are for sunny scorchers.
However, no shoe is perfect and there are sometimes minor irritants. The classic Crocs Mary Jane has breathing vents across the metatarsal area which may let water in on rainy days. It is easy, of course to slip the shoes off and wipe both your feet and the clog.
You can’t get Mary Jane Crocs in half sizes and so, since they tend to run somewhat on the large size, it is recommended that you check the online charts before ordering and if you wear a half-size select the next full size below, so if, for instance you usually wear 7.5, order a 7.
Another thing to watch for is that the liner in the Wrapped Mary Jane tends to come off when you take off the shoe so you need to slip it back in from time to time. The upside of that is that it is easily machine washable.
All things considered, I consider the Crocs Mary Jane to be a good buy for the money and I would give the shoe my stamp of approval.
